Interested in converting
your rental property to smoke-free?
ORHA has new tools to help you
do that. ORHA recently developed
a new form, Form
27, available from our member
associations, whereby you and your
tenant can agree to keep the property
smoke-free. ORHA also helped develop
a flier you
can use to explain the benefit
of smoke-free housing to applicants
and tenants. A 16-page booklet
may be available from our member
associations; if not, you
can download it here. Our affiliate, Rental
Housing Association of Greater
Portland, has more on the subject,
or you can visit www.smokefreeoregon.com.

A new law that became effective the first of this year mandates formal education for park owners or managers. At least one person who has authority to manage a park must complete six hours of continuing education every two years. The person should be the manager or owner, if one lives on-site or off-site. If there isn’t an on-site or off-site manager, then it should be the owner. Oregon Housing and Community Services will see that this mandated education will be offered by trade groups.
The first step, though, is registering. The law requires every manufactured dwelling facility to register with the Oregon Housing and Community Services: go to www.ohcs.oregon.gov or you can call them at 800-453-5511 and they will send you a form.
